West Plaza Community Cats TNR Program
In 2012, West Plaza began its humane TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program to curb the unchecked growth of the feral population in the neighborhood. Thanks to the dedication of the program manager and a group of volunteers, we were able to spay or neuter more than thirty cats in the first year. The cats are trapped, transported to Great Plains SPCA for neutering, and then returned to their territory to live out their lives.
The rate of reproduction of these colonies has been greatly reduced, but the need for neutering continues. Volunteers are needed to keep the program viable. If you can provide assistance with trapping, transporting, or temporary "parking" of the cats before and after surgery, please call Sharon Martin, our program coordinator, at 913-302-2115.
If you live in West Plaza and need advice or trapping help with a feral cat situation, you may contact Sharon Martin at 913-302-2115 for assistance.
