Hello, Friends and Neighbors of West Plaza -
Welcome to a suddenly very cold winter, everyone, and happy new year.
Our first general meeting of the new year will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1700 Westport Road, on Tuesday, January 16.
At this meeting, we will be electing officers and directors of the West Plaza Neighborhood Association for 2018. We are actively seeking people who are willing to step up their participation in the organization by becoming board members. It is especially important that new members join the board this year for two reasons: Joe Montanari, who has been president since 2008, has chosen to step down from the position to become an at-large board member. Also, after eleven years, I (Julie Tenenbaum) will be leaving the board to pursue other interests.
In order to continue to provide the services and programs West Plaza residents have enjoyed in past years, it is important that we fill the board with people who will use their energy and talents for the benefit of their neighbors. There are ten positions on the board; six people have expressed a desire to serve in 2018. Now is an excellent time to learn how the organization runs, become a mover and a shaker, and help West Plaza grow and flourish. If you are interested (even a little!) please contact me by return email or at (816) 931-2276 for more information.
Our guest speakers at the general membership meeting will present the pro and con positions about the streetcar expansion, which many (but not all) residents of West Plaza will be voting on sometime in 2018. Read more about this on page one of the newsletter.
The social half-hour begins at 6:30, and the meeting begins at 7. A drawing for a raffle prize from one of our business members will end the meeting.
We're looking forward to seeing you there.
